What is PAANO?
Well in general PAANO is meant to be a networking and mentorship program for members of PASE to connect with alumni and industry members. Undergraduates have a lot of unanswered questions that courses and assignments can't answer. - How do I know what I want to do after graduating? - Should I consider graduate school or explore my options by taking on internships? Some questions can only be answered by people who had those same questions. Mentors and mentees are assigned to smaller groups or "networks" including other mentors and mentees. Everyone gets the opportunity to teach and learn from one another. - Mentors are able to gain perspective of their current position in life, and reflect back on their undergraduate experience. - Mentees are able to learn from experience and advise from someone but also meet other undergraduates who are going through a similar experience. This support system could be used as a tool for motivation and guidance. PASE recently attended Facebook's Infrastructure Open House on October 17, 2018, at their Menlo Park Campus. It was a great experience learning from all the different employees and the network of teams behind such a successful company. UC Davis' Black Engineers Association also attended (seen in the photo above) it was great having familiar faces at such a big event. BIG THANK YOU to Facebook for this amazing opportunity and letting some of our members tour the facility and ask questions.
